Depends what you mean by North East. If you are being parochial and referring to England, there are quite a few. If you are referring to the UK as in hiluxsurf.co.uk. There are a few up in that North East as well.

Every friday afternoon over summer to oct 31 I'd be trundling the M1 from Durham to Harrogate to my caravan anytime between 2.30 - 6.30, I've seen loadsa surfs in this area lately n no one flashes/waves etc, I just put it down to tunnel vision drivers. HComment
