  • Diesel shut off valve questions

    Hi
I can see this subject has been covered a fair bit but i would still like to ask a couple of questions as i THINK mine isn't getting 12 volts. First off, i'm a but afraid of giving it some power but reversing the polarity. Is this a danger? Also, if i find that the valve itself is duff can they be replaced without taking the bloody pump off (i did this last year to get all the rings changed) but it was a PITA to be honest and don't want to go there again. thanks for your patience.

Does it click when ignition is switched on or off? You can test with 12V directly to solenoid. Polarity is not important.

UPDATE. On the connector on the look side, there is 12 v but the three cables are in really bad condition. Of the three points, the positive line is the 'top' pin of the three in the triangle with the bottom left *looking at it face on) being the Neg

HOWEVER, on the connector side going to the pump, the corresponding top pin goes to a green wire which is only about 4cm long. Where does this have to go?

On the two remaining bottom pins i have tried to connect 12v with no noise.

My assumption is that this green line is the feed and that i'm going to have to take off the pump.

Let me know your thoughts. thanks

I believe the green wire is a ground for something but not sure what that is right now.Try grounding it and then see what you get at the other two pins.
