Hello from down under,
I have a 98 surf with the 3litre turbo intercooled KZN 185. My problem/question is this, engine has been running sweet for the last 2years but recently after going through a deep mud puddle the engine lost power and started coughing and spluttering, would not rev above a fast idle when the throttle was opened more engine would not respond, after 10 minutes it suddenly came right and we drove home no problem.
Several days later having used the vehicle every day with no problems I decided to wash the engine bay to get rid of all the muddy water remains, I covered the alternator and hosed the engine down and when i started the engine same problem.I am assuming that there is an electrical component that is getting wet and needing time to dry out but can't imagine what this would be ..controller for the injector pump governors ?
Really interested to hear your thoughts on this matter.
