[FONT=Calibri]Hi all, I just bought my first Surf. Excitement slowly turning into regret as some things I knew were wrong with it I assumed where easy fixes are turning into a bit of a headache. It was broken into at some point and the ignition barrel is damaged as well as one of the door locks.
The genuine Toyota lock set for the Gen 3 has been discontinued and for some unknown reason the ignition barrel set is unique to this vehicle. 2nd hand parts are ridiculously priced, had one quote that was a 3rd of the price I paid for the whole truck. It is like being robbed again.
Has anyone managed to solve this issue by converting the inners of another barrel to fit into the Gen 3 or another solution? At this point I am looking at removing it all and buying an aftermarket ignition switch and fitting a good immobiliser/alarm with central locking.
Any advice would be very much appreciated.
