Putting back on the wheel arch seal 1972 Hilux Surf

Hi, just finished repainting my wheel arch but removed the seal surround and I can't get it on by hand. Has anyone taken theirs off and put it back on? If so did you use glue to hold the rubber seal in place and what type?

Ah I'm sorry it's 1997! I put 1972 as I work on my Pontiac as well and use a chat to discuss topics on a different forum aha
