  • Pre-purchase help

    hello all,

dont own a surf yet but looking at one tomorrow with a possible electrical fault. It's a 96 kzn185 diesel.

owner has said it runs but as soon as the brake is applied it cuts out. But starts on the key straight away again. He suspects an electric fault and as soon as an electric load is on it dies. Does this sound familiar to anyone who might have come across this before?

would be good to get some feedback before looking to maybe be able to try a few things to diagnose the fault before buying.

    TIA.

    Cheers,

    lee

    Bought and fixed!

alternator belts were slack and wasn't charging the battery. Battery had drained off to the point of any electrical load would kill the engine.

After a full charge, tensioning the belts and replacing the battery ground wire. She fires up and and doesn't die with brakes or lights on.
