hi all. Long time forum lurker here. Finally registered to try and seek some advice out on replacing the spill control valve on a 1KZTE 3 litre. Haven’t been able to find any picture by picture guide so hoping for some advice here.

you will need a modified 32mm spanner. it is dead easy but make sure you do it in clean conditions...

Cheers James. I’ve been able to find a PDF workshop manual which shows the fuel pump housing. I’ve found a suitable spanner at Halfords which is for removing radiator fans I believe. I understand it needs cutting in half to fit.

Really hoping replacing the SPV cures the issue. I had driven 150 miles last week in one go with no issues. A few days later drove 20 miles and the engine cut out (felt like starved fuel to the engine), all dash lights went on. Managed to get the car started about 5 mins later once I verified the battery was secure and no obvious issues under the bonnet. Drove another 10 miles and the exact same thing happened. When it drives it shifts through gears fine and pulls well.

Seems like if it’s not the SPV (which was very expensive to buy!), then it could be the ECU (quoted about £150 for a company to inspect and repair if possible). Failing that it could be the SPV relay. Does anyone know where I can source a replacement relay if so? Had no luck finding one online. How would I know the SPV relay is knackered?

      Cheers
