One extreme to the other... With a question.

Good morning, all. For once, I'm actually doing some research, instead of jumping in with both feet.
i currently drive an MR2 Roadster. It's a roller skate, and I love it, but, it has the carrying capacity of a fag packet. Gonna keep it, but also looking at a Surf.

I've helped a couple of friends find Surfs, and whilst the first was a 2.4 petrol, I drove the 3.4 petrol at the weekend, and I love it. The LPG makes that one quite cheap to run.

my question is- Which is the better engine? 3.0 Diesel, of 3.4 petrol? I would add LPG to the petrol engine, to keep costs down.

also, if anyone's got a 3rd gen that fits the bill, for sale, what you got..?

I would say the 3.0 Diesel is far more common, and more popular.

The 3.4 petrol is a fair amount quicker though (about 50% more bhp?) from what I know. It's only available in the 3rd gen though, not 2nd gen.
