Newbie Questions

Hi, bought my Surf a fortnight ago, I won it on an Ebay auction, sight unseen!
It seems in good nick, most things work, except rear screen heater(will get round to using tech helps strippdown/check connections in summer LOL)
Busy working 12hours a day for 12 days a fortnight in slough to investigate/fix

I have a plethora of Questions!

1/ Has anyone else been mad enough to buy a vehicle on Ebay
2/ It has PIAA spots in the bull bar, dont know how to switch em on, previous owner never worked it out either! Any ideas?
3/ Is a plume of black smoke normal when you take off?
4/ I have 31-10.5-15in tyres, were do you get them from when they wear out? any recomends on replacements and from were?
5/ Who do I take this monster too for a service?
6/ Has it got a centre diff? should I never select 4x4 when on the road?
7/ On above tyres, should I worry about my indicated speed?
8/ Does the pathetic inbuilt jack actually extend enough to lift the wheels?
9/ How often should I service oils etc? Whats to look for?
10/ Do you meet up in pubs/weekends/mountainous venues?
11/ Weres legal to go off road?

NO but I sold one

Try next to rear window switch.

3/ Is a plume of black smoke normal when you take off?
Yes if you floor it, more so if it needs a service.

Tyre shop or mail order, BF Goodrich A/T's are good- I use Bridgestone Dueler A/T's.

5/ Who do I take this monster too for a service?
Ask on here to see if anyone recommends anyone.

Never on solid surface basically, only slippy stuff like mud etc.

7/ On above tyres, should I worry about my indicated speed?
Perhaps, similar thread going on elsewhere here. Try and get on a rolling road if you can, i NEED to!

Not tried but yes

3000k if you can for oil. See FAQ's for service stuff.

Yup some do, its on my TO DO list - hehe

I bought a 3rd gen of EBay. Sight unseen, only saw piccies. Turns out to be in very good condition. Everything works. Think we both got lucky. I changed all the oils and filters when I got it, now I know when to change them again. I only got mine 2 weeks ago also, so I can't answer a lot of your questions.. Welcome to the club...
