  • Hooked Up To Broadband But Need To Upgrade Me Pooter.

Had broadband and digital telly installed last Thursday but when I tried to load the software it said my machine isn't compatable. It's only four years old but only has 28MB RAM. Apparantly I need at least 86MB RAM.

I only bought new parafin and a winding handle for it a week ago. Oh well I guess I'll have to hammer the Credit Card again.
    It's only a hobby!

If it's only 4 years old you may get away with buying some more memory which is pretty cheap and easy to do - if you need help drop me a PM.

However what speed is your processor, might be better off getting a new one as you can get a pretty decent machine for around £400 if you keep the keyboard mouse and screen from the old machine.

There are always a load of shops doing them around Dunstable/Luton way. have a look in the local paper.

      Cheers

Much better run on Diesel - you can share the fuel with the Surf - wonder if you can run on vegoil.

Actually mine is run on coal - steam generated and it's only a year old - there again it is a laptop.

          Cheers

have a look at Dells website, they do some good deals. I bought one a while back and have to say the after sales support etc has been great.

You could try Dell. They're doing machines with a better CPU but less RAM and Hard Drive than mine (20 months old) for about £400. That should be good enough for a few more years.

m8, if ya monitor, keyboard & mouse are ok, u can build a top spec machine for about 400-450 quid.

                      case

                      mobo

                      heatsink & fan

This is what it says in System Information.

                        Microsoft Windows 98 4.10.2222 A

Don't know what the boffins will make of this.
