I just love the look of this motor. spent a lot of time on the pajero owners club site (agreat bunch of people) and now i,m here hopeing that some of you here will convince me that ive done the right thing.
The deal is not done yet and I still have a few days to pull out
I know very little about the surf and would be gratefull for any feedback.

if you have the choice, then go for the 3.0l model, lots more power, about the same mpg, and none of the paranoia about will my head go or not.

Make NO MISTAKE - you have done the right thing!!!!
This car is stylish, full of gadgets, great fun and tough as s**t.

As for the site - you'll get lots of technical advice (not from me), and more jokes than you know what to do with - Welcome to the madhouse!!!

No comparision! higher ground clearance and lower overall height leave the Mitsu's looking like a greenhouse on wheels with all that flat glass.

Offroad abilty is great, reliability is great, power is great, style is great.

The only issue is some crappy cylinder heads from Toyota on the early 2.4's, they were sposed to be recalled at the time, but some never got done, and seem to end up over here with 'crack head cure' in them that goes south after a bit of use. Make sure the dealer will warrenty it or it has already been sorted and you'll have miles of entertaining fun.

The other great feature is the sliding rear window in the tailgate, make sure it's working smoothly, not a big deal to fix, usually only need lubing, but a duff motor or regulator will cost about £100 new.

And don't worry about a loud clunk/groaning noise on full lock, its only the steering stops need greasing, but by all means scare the dealer with it to get money off.

              Welcome to THE ELITE Alan,

You wont regret the change, and as Stara said if you go for the 3 litre lump you have not got the worries of the head problems. I have a 2.4 mine was changed 6 months before I bought it.

Any information you require just ask, some will give you a good laugh, and with out a doubt some one will have the answer for you.

The only other thing is you have to be mad to stay sane on here.

              All the best

the other thing you need to have thoroughly checked is the flux capacitor - I'm surprised none of the other guys mentioned it cause It can be a real problem if it packs up. But I suppose with all the talk of "heads" it must have slipped their minds. Your dealer should be able to reassure you on this - ask him to see the paperwork showing that it's functioning properly.

And A big welcome and congratulations on making the right choice.

                Happy surfing

                Lou
