  • Im getting an arse-lift.

I have my replacement rear springs from Milners, its booked in for next week. My mechanic friend of a friend wants £45 and about three hours to do the job. I want him to replace the standard aerial mast for an electric one too. Do standard electric ones fit, i.e. from Maplins or Halfords? or is the angle on the wing too great and will require a special £££££ one?

I had a new set fitted 3 months ago .. the local exhaust bloke did it for £20.and it took him 50 minutes I know cause I watched him do it ..
they havent fallen off yet ... I would,nt know re the aerial .. but I would think a bulk standard one would do ok .. it,s only an aerial after all

        lifted 'my' arse this afternoon

talking of arse lifts, I had afternoon off, so fitted the new roughtrax 1.5" lifted HD springs to 4runner this afternoon. Took me 2 hrs, and didnt need spring compressors. found tips on the forum from search and peoples advice.
Just undid the sway-bar links (well mounting brackets) and rear shocks and brake pipe brackets. A long pry bar and a small jack let me create space to put in the new springs.
And what a difference, the back end is nearly 3" higher now than what it was.
Wheel centre to arch is now 21" on all four corners.
The truck feels like its floating now, much better! and looks better too.
I will probably have to raise the LSPV pivot bracket, as the brakes didnt feel as strong.
Also worried now when I hook-up the twin-axle trailer to the tow-bar, that the front wheels of the trailer will be in the air!!, might have to put a block on the towbar to lower it ?

but well pleased and the job wasnt that hard - smile broader!! now arse is in the air again!!

Why not? It worked wonders for Chers career.

Three hours seems a little excessive. Even a spannerphobe like me managed it in 2Hrs, with no previous experience. The only problem I had was that I undid something I shouldn't have and had to leave it until the next day. Poor light stopped play.
You can replace the mast on your existing electric aerial for not too much outlay. It is well documented on here. The search facility will turn up the thread(s).
          It's only a hobby!
