  • Lifts - Not the usual questions

OK In the new year I'm looking to get a 4" lift for my surf the question is do I go for 2" suspension & 2" body or 4" suspension.

    2" Suspension lift
    Advantages
    Cheap and easy
Uprated torsion bars / springs available
    Disadvantages
    Reduced articulation on front

    4" Suspension lift
    Advantages
Retains front articulation (as far as I can tell)
Increase ground clearance (more than 2" option)
    Disadvantages
    More expensive
Unable to establish if uprated springs are available (+4")

I'm looking to fit 33" or 35" Tyres

    Discuss !!

DELBOY is the man to ask as - he's been there' seen it' done it.
4" suspension lift will cost more than 2" suspension & a 2" bodylift.
you will have to raise the body for BIG wheels as they will foul the arches.
TONYN is also a good source for this info.

doesn't matter which you do to clear the tyres... only real difference is that the suspension lift gives better chassis-ground clearance and the body lift is more cosmetic and just spaces the body away from the chassis.
there's a lot more to think about if you're going for a big suspension lift. cheapest would be to go for 2" of each and big tyres which will also give you an inch or 2!
