As you might know, I bought my surf about (3L SSRX) 6 weeks ago. I always had plans to take whatever I bought (4X4 type vehicle), up through Europe and into Scandanavia.

I'm planning on doing it next summer, all the way to Noordkapp (excuse spelling). The Surf seems perfect, any advice?

Anyone want to come along as well? It's going to be a sort of tent it sort of thing to keep costs down, beer is how much?

I've only done Norway. save your pennies the beer F******g expensive and weak.

it better to go up through Denmark and across on the ferry then up through sweden and norway.

in the cold scandinavian countries one piece of advice is essential, put your beer in the tent and sleep in the surf,

Sorry Slydog, I've already got a co-driver. Thanks for the offer though.

This is the general plan so far:

Ferry/channel tunnel to France. Drive through Belgium, Holland, Germany and into Denmark. Then Ferry to Sweden, and up through Norway/down through Sweden for the return, or vice versa. Depending on time/inclination, might even go into Finland for a stamp on the passport.

Sights to see along the way? Buckets of them. Why does Amsterdam, Hamburg and Copenhagen come to mind?? No plans here, just see how we feel when we're there. The scenery will be breathtaking anyway.

Setting off the end of July. My mate and myself are both teachers, so how long is not a problem. Can we do it in 2 weeks? Longer/shorter? Do you want to join us for part of the way and do your own thing?

We'll be camping most of the time, the facilities in Scandanavia are pretty good as they take the outdoor thing seriously there. Up north mozzies and midges can be a bit of a problem, but a decent insect repelent sorts that out. The weather is suprisingly good at that time of year, warmer than you'd imagine.

I'm not one for planning things to the n'th degree, I much rather go with the general flow of things. I don't plan on hammering along for hundreds of miles each day either, it's supposed to be a holiday after all!

So there you have it in a nutshell. It'll be a while till next year, plenty of time to alter plans, fine tune stuff etc etc. Still interested? We could have a convoy going over!
