Nice car half a engine

Yes 34,000????????!!!!!!!!!!!????? ?? this car was stored for 5 years had to change all the rubber bits and remove the mushrooms.Any how the heads off 2 cracks I think and a blown gasket the cause thermostat stuck shut. I here that Toyota main dealers can get new heads for £400-500 complete?? Any info on torque figs would be handy

This is what probably did all the damage. Five years is a long time to leave an engine standing- gives plenty of time for the chemical cocktail in the cooling system to eat into the metal. The corrosion inhibitors in the coolant are only good for 2 years or 25,000 miles.

I serriously doubt wether many of the imports we are getting have the coolant renewed every two years- it is usualy the most neglected part of an engine.
