Just installed digital temp gauge with sending unit put into top rad hose on my 96 kzn185. The adapter was a 39 mm that fits perfect, cruising on the hwy empty not towing it reads consistant 185 deg pulling along hill at hwy speed it went to 191 deg and stayed there, soon as I hit the top on to the flat it dropped right back down to 185. I was real paranoid from all the horror stories of overheating so now feel more at ease knowing it's running right on with no overheating problems.

They do seem to run hot (to me anyway) I was also paranoid about engine heat and fitted an (analog) temp gauge years back, as you say it's nice to actually see the temp reading as opposed the "guesswork" stock gauge
I actually went OTT with fans to ensure she keeps a decent temp,
dumped the viscous fan for a bif electric one, fitted two 9" pusher fand as backup, and another 9" over the back axel (it was for cooling the return from the veg oil tank) plus an inline pump, whole lot is managed by a 3 way DPDT switch, so I can override the temp sensor and turn the fans onToo young to die and too old to give a toss

My KZN 185 runs much lower than that, around 70c which in your money is about 160. Maybe my ebay sender and gauge are not to be trusted, but as long as the stock gauge doesn't shoot up I stopped stressing about it a long time back. If it bothers you and if you havent already done it, the single best thing you can do to keep things cool and correct, is the viscous fan silicon oil replenishmentСви можемо
