Damn I remember doing something similar to this on a Hillman hunter estate back in the 70's lights and switches above the windscreen and meters every where on the dash plus built in 8 track player and radio , needless to say I never did another one.

Got to admire your spirit Ian. I'm at a point now where I can barely be arsed rolling around on the concrete floor to grease the prop shaft, and after each oil change and ATF " refresh " Im always sorely tempted to leave the bash plates in a corner somewhere as removing and replacing those are starting to feel like a job too far.

Thanks all, I'm good at starting stuff and the steam runs out, however I'm on a roll and the new dash top is taking shape,

That's the old one Scott, the 3rd pic is what it looks like now the new dash top is taking shape tho, covered in sawdust today, glad I got a belt sander and a power file, wouldn't have fancied it with a sheet of sandpaper

Quick update, got the top dash made and ready for covering, stuck the scrim underlining on today and hoping to get the leathercloth on tomorrow, bloody corners are my let down, coming along though, I got four small heater dash vents coming and I am going to try and do away with all those big air trunking parts and run em in 2" or similar, most of the room behind the dash is taken up with ait piping.
Re-working the main instrument pod as well, plenty of cutting and glueing and sanding

Thanks Scott, well had a mare of a time with the leading edges, getting the leather cloth to look neat, it looks more like my Christmas present gift wrapping giving up on that, need to think again on the edges, (that's were a proper upholsterer comes in), the flat top of the dash looks fine so that can stay, i'll get round it somehow
