Egr removal

Has anyone disconnected there egr and continue running there surf , I have a 2nd gen 3ltr surf which is putting out black smoke when driving also seems a little rough but drives spot on , just wondering if disconnecting the egr would help the black smoke , what do you think , thanks

I just put a blanking plate in the side to the rear left of the engine (as you look at it). Left everything else "as is". I did it today, seems to bit a little bit more torquey.

Took mine off altogether when I replaced the head. Runs fine without it, you don't need it in the uk.

Done mine, seems to run just the same , only disconnected it as it rattled and was driving me mad !

removed mine altogether and used a blanking kit of ebay and just blocked the pipe when i fitted an AMC head and it drives perfectly.
Plus if i need to take the inlet manifold off its a lot easier

did mine sometime ago, removed and cleaned all the dirt of the manifold intake at same time, massive difference.
