  • Engine revs?

My rev counter lies.... a lot and i want to do some maintaince that requires me to hold my revs at certain points for mintutes at a time.

Does anybody know of a tool to measure the engines revs when its stationary?

    Thanks
    Alex

Hmmmmm maybe an all signing all dancing one, think a standard timing light wouldn't unless I calculated it and maths isn't my strong point lol

        http://www.compactinstruments.co.uk/...optical-laser/

That'll do it without any wires or sums!

The strobe timing lights we used to use on petrol engines that clipped onto an ht lead had an lcd readout for revs. And that was a loooong time ago!

Failing that something like an Apexi RSM, or SAFC-II (or Neo).

I got my rev counter working by fitting oen from a 4 cylinder petrol 4Runner.
              More Lift.
              More Tyres.
              More Engine.

I bought a Velleman kit and made one when I was 18. But it needed to be calibrated so took it to college and used their ociloscope! Because I didn't have an osciloscope lying around, unfortunately.
I reckon I could have calibrated it with a timing light, though.
