  • What are most common breakdown causes ?

I am a new owner 1996 3 ltr TD KZN 185 auto, and would appreciate advice on the most common high risk failure components so I can travel to Spain/Portugal this summer carrying spares.
I have all new belts ready to fit + oils / coolant / filter changes. + I am buying s/hand starter motor and alternator. But what else would be good to have just in case I come to a grinding halt in the middle of nowhere with little hope of local source of spares ?. Turbo assembly ? viscous fan ? Water pump ? without ending up towing a whole spare SURF just in case ! Odometer now reading 220,000 Km.
ps: Been driving just over 50 years now and this 1996 SSR-X is the best fun ever. Much appreciate any advice you-in-the-know can offer.

Take at least one set of bearings for both front and rear axles and the associated seals.

Yes after 7n1/2 years of faithful service from my second Surf (First was a 2.4 @ 6n 1/2 years) probably won't be able to afford another Vehicle as I approach retirement....So yep now have 2 KZN 130's 3.0l
