  • M.O.T. rule clamp down

When I had my mot the other day the guy told me that I would need to remove the overhead console (everything in the pics) to comply with the rules next year, ie nothing restricting the windscreen forward view!, so over the coming yeat I will need to transfer the radio and most of the other stuff down into the center colsole, that means junking the Chinese telly (no real loss) the CB radio (no real loss either, not had a peep out the bugger since I put it in)
    so some work to do,
the question is does anyone have a roof lining or the front part they don't want, I cut some of mine away doing this overhead one, going to look a mess when I take it all out
I take it the mot guys correct and not being pendantic, thought perhaps he banged his head on it

I am not an MoT expert but I think to fail a car on forward vision when the stuff is above the sunvisors is a bit harsh. From the pics it doesn't look like your fittings are in line of sight at all.
I would suggest getting a second opinion before you remove the bits.

Hi Mark, well the console has been in the truck going on 5-6 years, never had any comment and have been going to the same mot place for longer than that, so it's not like I just did it, the bottom edge is actually about 1 1/2" below the top line of the screen so technically they may have me, however it doesn't restrict my vision while driving,
just seemed to me that either the guys telling the truth and they are clamping down or he's just being a stickler, you do need to get in with care or else you can bang your nut on it, done it several times after it was fitted but I soon learnt to get in a special way

When I fitted the 33's and reversed my rims the tyres stuck out about an inch beyond the arch, for a couple of years the guy mentioned about it but both times said they shouldn't be like that but i'll say they were not fitted when I mot's it, like he was doing me a real solid, I didn't have the heart to say that actually it's not an mot issue but could be a cop issue if I came across a wronun, again never had any problems,
just make me sick the way they keep comeing up with new $hit, mothers make enough money out of it, I just hate jobsworth's
I'm always weary of pointing out summat to these guys, if you upset em thye may find something to fail it on just like you never complain in a resturante before eating ot they may gob in your food

Find a better mot station. The 'rules' are open to interpritation. Find a tester who interprets them in a rational manner rather than a jobsworth monkey.
