  • Hi to all

Hey guys new to all of this but I recently got my first 95 Surf. Absolutely loved it for the month I had it until someone decided it would be fun to smash into me stupid insurance company is doing it's usual patter saying due to it's age and mileage it's not worth repairing to them. I on the other hand feel differently.

Since they're pushing for this I'm looking for a new surf and looking to buy something in the next few weeks if anyone is looking to let theirs go I would be interested

    cheers

Hi TerrabawZ, welcome to the site. Is the truck beyond repair? If it can be done you can buy it back off the insurance company as salvage.

      Hi Dave,

Yeah it's repairable but they've pulled the ridiculous quote of 5k to fix it all 😳
It just needs cosmetic repairs and slight suspension damage is all.
Looks a lot worse is the photo but the impact cracked my rim and the tyre popped off when I moved it off the road.

most expensive part of that repair is the ARB bumper. New wing and headlight of eblag suspension from roughtrax.

Most of that 5K will be labour. If they offer you say £1500 for the truck, ask if you can buy it back for £300 or a negotiable price, that will give you some cash to put it right. it depends if you want to spend the time on it or put the cash towards another Surf. Good luck with it.

When my 96 3ltr got "written off" after a van backed into it I was offered £2,500.00 for it or £2000.00 if I bought it back for £500.00, got it repaired for less than £500.00 inc second hand parts . Insurance companies only think new parts hence the high cost.

They came back and said I can either take the cash or settle on a settlement and buy the truck back. Gonna buy it back and get it sorted to something I'm happy with. Does anyone know a decent 4x4 specialist around Edinburgh, Scotland area?

The pic make it look a lot worse with the tyre sitting squint but the rim is only cracked and the tyre poped off when I moved it off the road. The insurer says it has slight suspension damage but no structural or axle damage. Bull bars took the brunt of the force. Yeah they already tried to offer me pittance and shot them down. Gonna call them tomorrow and go into it further and tell them exactly what I want.

Cheers for the shield link Budweiser been trying to find one for ages.

I would attempt the repairs myself but I don't have the space to work on it myself 😔

                          your welcome,
you look like you got same roofrack as i got.

make a full list of the things you need,

if you not bother about paint colour, that it can be painted afterwards, it looks like no more than one day swapping things (old damaged for second hand/new parts), unless there is more things hidden.

I'll let you know today sorting out all the final details. I'm guessing you don't mind the fact it's got a tiny dent in it lol
