  • Stuck spanner!

Changing engine mounts, all going well until we lowered the engine back on to the new mounts, pinched up all the bolts, then realised the one bolt we didn't fully remove - behind the turbo - now has a ratchet spanner stuck on it! Is it turbo removal? Tried for 2 hours to wiggle it out, removed turbo intake pipe, no joy.
    Any ideas?

Sorry, no pics at the moment. It's a Kzn130, 1kzte. Off side engine mount, four bolts into engine, the top left - behind turbo - is tricky to get to. Ratchet spanner wound it out enough to wiggle mount free with the other three bolts removed. It can't be wound back in and is now wedged between turbo and captive washer bolt! F!!k.

Is it not quicker to remove the mount, and refit without the spanner on the bolt ?

Yup, I'd have re lifted the engine to get it out.

The engine was relifted... The manifold had to be loosened and there was then just enough space to lever the turbo across the 3mm that was needed. All back together now, lesson learned!

If it makes you feel any better I drove all the way to the Nurburgring in a supra, did a few laps, came home... found a 14mm spanner still in place under the bonnet.
