insurance to go to MOT - urgent help needed

After many years of being SORN my truck is going for MOT tomorrow
The problem is to get temporary car insurance to get to the test centre. Every short term policy dealer doesn't handle imports! I don't want to sign up for a full policy in case the truck fails and I need to work on it.
It's not taxed either, which I know I'll be ok with as I'm only going to MOT centre and back. A distance of 7 miles on county lanes.
Anyone know who's good to use? Or can offer suggestions?

Explain your concerns with the people who are going to MOT the vehicle. Some places have trade plates which they might lend you, or someone from them could drive the vehicle to the centre for the test on trade plates. Alternately, if the test is pre-booked, tax is not an issue, and a friend who has insurance, can drive your car to and from the MOT with your permission, third party cover. Spoke to the garage and they're going to pick the truck up and drive there and back. The cost works out the same as a day's car insurance would have been. That is before being told it can't be done because my surf hasn't been in the UK as long as its 4runner counterpart!
