  • fuel and timing correction resistors

Ive been messing with the thought of building a kit to market that will give the 2lte and 1kzte engines a power hike.
The theory is that in all their wisdom Toyota set the Injection pump timing on these engine retarded to improve Nox emmissions.
Now by messing with the correction resistor, resistance levels you can actually tune the engine to produce more power. Tuners in Australia have seen power gains from the 78 bhp engine rocket up to 130 bhp, with a few simple mods. Their figures not mine.
I have the knowledge of how to achieve this, and I am getting the parts together for a kit. I will use my truck and hopefully another members truck (Lewd) as guinea pigs. I know Nev has delved into this process and I know its nothing new. So I am going to try it and report my findings here.

    Where do I sign?

Would the ideal route be this resistor mod coupled with a custom fabbed stainless exhaust with the addition of a intercooler?

The kit will include 2x3kohm potentiometers 2x3 way micro switches some wiring, and an in dash mounting kit, 3" full flow ss exhaust, intercooler and associated parts. The only down side to the kit is that it will need to be fitted and tuned/tweaked by us here at Overfab.

Yar, I'm well up for this after reading up. With the aid of a boost controller you'll actually be able to rolling road tune a surf!!

Coupled with the factory intercooler and the 3'' exhaust I am hoping for a considerable drop in EGT's and a nice smooth torque curve.

I was thinking it wouldnt take much to have a couple of saved settings. One for towing one for power maybe? As simple as a couple of marks on the dials even.

the only difference between boys and men is the size and relative expense of their toys!!

It goes without saying, your welcome to be a guinea pig.I will get a couple of sets of potentiometers ordered and I will fit them to your truck, set them up and see what differences it makes, then we can sort out the exhaust and then an IC. Would be good to see the differences between stages,

You could do with a 2.4 too

What would be best for the pump end do you think? ? Ideally the same toyota connectors with spade connectors rather than resistors but what can we get that will offer the same level of secure fixing?

As a last resort we could butcher the ones being taken out but thats not perfect by any means. redundency is always best and to keep those in the glove box would be handy if the mod ever failed for any reason.

                            About an hour NNE

either way I need to speak to you about fabbing up some pipe for an intercooler.

plus the exhaust middle box seems to be blowing a bit now......

we could go and raid a few scrap yards / breakers and remove the connectors including the resistors with a pair of cutters for now, that would give us a few sets to begin with and would not be as much of an outlay as new one from Mr Toyota.
