  • got a gift, an intercooler, but,...

    but got a question,...
im well chuffed with this gift(sorry trunks)
my friend showed up with all needed stuff to convert my kzn in to intercooled, like factory, he knew that i wanted to intercool mine
    there is some pics,
first, the rocker cover, the one on the left is the normal one, the one on the right is the one for the intercooler.

then, manifold air intake + throttle body, the normal one, (filthy)

    and the intercooled one

      now all fitted,

minus a sensor of the intercooler (temperature sensor?)

and a plug of the sensors they where before,
      can i connect them?
if yes wich colour cable with what colour?, engine starts perfect, even after extending the throttle body sensor cables.
where should connect those 2? specially the one of the intercooler?
      many thanks

the egr is blocked and the plug of the sensor of it its tucked away. this one you see in the pic it will be in use if i didn't fit the intercooler.

thanks, i just read in other forum this:
As you look at that picture of your intercooler the light coloured connector on the left is your air temperature sensor which on your truck before you fitted the cooler was in the long black intake pipe that runs from the filter housing. The other black connector on the right with the orangey/pinkly coloured filter on is the boost sensor for the turbo. On your inlet manifold towards the front of the engine you should see the same set up bolted to the side of the manifold but on my truck this filter is a grey colour. Don't know if connecting these up instead of the originals will make any difference. Can't see that there would be much difference in boost readings at the intercooler but temperature wise there should be a few degree's difference inside the intercooler to the inlet pipe. Also make sure that the boost sensor filter is cleaned out as this caused me to loose power as while back.

i will see if that works, the last pic (the brown connector is the original of the truck, so i guess i will leave it at one side, not in use.

i didn't connect those 2 bits, because, i didn't hear more of people assuring that was the way to go, even a guy that work in toyota he wasn't sure. the little i drove it around the block (till the radiator bursted) you can feel that it works much better (having 3 inch exhaust all way around), cut the bonnet for air intake using the rubber seal of the land cruiser, but i need to make a spacer (4cm) from the outside skin of the bonnet to the rubber seal to make a air tight seal, jet flexible.
counting that i got a 2 inch body lift. otherwise the cooler would not fit (this is a 2nd generation, just in case i didn't specified before)
and im on the look of an air intake for the bonnet, that i tried the hilux one, but it seems too small, and one side due the place the intercooler sits, so by researching i found out that a hyundai terracan intake scoop its the right size and it seats centered on the bonnet, (i kind of like a mirror image from the centre of the vehicle)
but so far its proven so far difficult to find one of those scoops in good condition

a few pics of the advance, the spacer fitted

                          underneath not finished jet

with a bonnet scoop of a hyundai terracan 02

a bit of fettling and will be getting it ready for paint and permanent fix
