Diesel fuel filter sensor

Can anybody tell me if the plug in sensor on the bottom of the fuel filter works if so when should it come on ?

What is the context of your question? Is it an "I've snapped/cut it off while changing my fuel filter, will I miss it?" or an "Am I going to miss it if I cut it off when changing the fuel filter?" or a "What is this thing actually for?" type question?

Can anybody tell me if the plug in sensor on the bottom of the fuel filter works if so when should it come on ?

If its still working, it will illuminate when Water is in the bottom of the fuel filter, drain it off n it should go off !!
