  • parts availability

hello , i have been offered a k reg hi lux surf 2.4 diesel auto with m.o.t. as a swap for my v.w t25 camper project .
however a local mechanic has warned me that parts for imported vehicles are either very hard to find or expensive. is this this case?
i have heard how reliable these vehicles are but don't want to be stuck for spares. it needs a rear diff bearing which the guy says he will do or replace diff , but i would like to fit timing belt and pulley kit just to be safe .
the vehicle has 190,000 km on it . any help would be great .

    No and no

couple of places do new parts (see add top right corner) and plenty of spares available from breakers etc

              parts availability

thanks to all for the threads. you will have to excuse me i am not used to forums and i am still finding my way around this site.
i could'nt find the links or address for the parts web sites if you guys put them on here , so i will have to try again.
i swapped the veedub today and have the toyota. its tested for 9mths and has had full service but has noisy rear diff bearing which he did tell me about .
i have been informed by local garage that its a big job to do this and would be better to buy a used diff and fit that . the car seems great apart from the whine and vibration after you lift foot off throttle . any clues ? is the garage correct ? any help would be great . and i apologise for my slowness lol cheers.

also the guy i got it off said he did'nt have time to do this work so thats why i got a swap no cash involved . my v.w. did need a lot of work and was swapped as a project vehicle.
i will try put some pics on and i think it a ln130 and someones thread says its a gen 2 if its a 1992. its got lots more than my series 3 and my jeep cherokee. it make the cherokee look like a horse and cart ... without the comforts lol.
                .

Try & meet up with a fellow member who might be happy to check/offer advice on your noisy diff.

Unusual to have diff fault, wheel bearing maybe

                            Hi Tony

Start a new topic something like,

"i live near whitby and would like to meet up with a knowledgable fellow owner"

                            simple

i think i know the vehicle you bought?
i think it was advertised on ebay as a well maintained vehicle and viewing was at a local garage
                              am i right ?
do you know exactly why its moaning or are you just relying on a MECHANIC
if you want help ask the guys on here or find a good reputable 4x4 specialist in your area
