  • Back in the game....

After 15 months since I sold my Gen 2 I'm back with a Gen 3. It ran well on the trip down, only fault was a rear window not working but that has been resolved this morning. Next plan is a change of tyres to either BFG AT or GG AT so if anyone has some recent views on those two against each other?
It's currently in 275/70/R16 with noticeable rubbing on full lock so am thinking of going to 265/70 to resolve. If I go to 265/75 would the extra wall height cause the same issue as the 275s?

Any thoughts on the tyres would be appreciated, and no doubt more questions will follow as I find my round. Subscription to follow......

    ....now paid!

    Cheers,

    T.

both sets of tyres are good so it will come down to whether you want bfg's or gg's.Idont think theres much difference price wise

Thanks for the reply. I had BFGs on my last Gen 2 and they were great. I've heard a few people say that the GG are better on the road, which presumably means they are slightly worse off road? If anyone thinks they are the same off-road that would be useful, although there is actually probably very little difference and so it's negligible? In which case I may give the Grabbers a try....

As you say, they are pretty much the same price but when spending nearly £500 I want to get it right.

      Any thoughts on the sizes?

      Cheers.

I literally put GG on mine yesterday so it's probably a bit early for me to give a proper review.

They're definitely a lot quieter than the Cooper STT I had on before though. (Which, incidentally, will be in the for sale section shortly)

Thanks for the info - I've got a couple of weeks until I'm going to get a chance to swap so any thoughts appreciated.

On roof racks am I right in thinking I need the following if I go down the Thule route for a '96 Gen 3:

          4700 - Rapid Tracker Foot
4715 - Other part of Foot or 4710
          761 - Bars

          ?

Will start trawling EBay unless people have any other recommendations?

          Cheers,

          Tom.

Have any recent KZN185 manuals made it online as all the few old links seem to have expired? Or is it a case of having to but the various books from Roughtrax?

I'm having an issue with the rear window wash, the pump is working but nothing is coming out - unlike the windscreen which is working well. Could do with trying to trace the pipe work to investigate as I'm presuming it's blocked somewhere!

            Cheers.

              hi there
i had same problem. mine was a rubber right angle pipe that comes through the body down inside the truck. i have now completley renewed with hard plastic airline from pump to rear washer, easy enough job.
be sure if this is your issue to dry your carpet out.

Thanks for that - have you got a rough route of the pipe work before I start pulling panels and lining away, albeit starting from where it comes in from the nozzle?

                  Cheers.

start from washer pump pipe comes up through engine bay then through innerwing (remove inner plastics) through to inside truck (remove rhs lower side panel and front rear carpet plastic strips)pipe then runs through to back.(what I did is join old pipe to new pipe and gently pulled it through to back where rubber boot it on the hatch, then through to nozzle. I used 4mm hard plastic air pipe. heated the ends of pipe and when they soffend I joined them to nozzle and washer pump. job done. hope this helps.
