    Howdy,

I'm new on here and usually not much into japanese machinery. There's only the odd one, that interests me.

Unfortunatly I had a severe car crash recently, which left me with a broken leg and I won't be able to drive any of my 4x4 trucks, which all are manual, for the next 6 months. Bummer ....

So .. what does one do ? Well I went out and bought a '92 JDM spec Toyota Hilux Surf with automatic.

It has the 2.4TD 2LT-E engine and unfortunatly for me, it hadn't been serviced in a good few years, as it seems. Because one conrod let loose and punched 3 holes in the block on the way home.

Lucky for me though, the deal included a ton of bits from a spareparts car. Including another engine.

Just to give you an idea, what I normally potter around in.

I have these 2 VW LT40 4x4's. While the normal Mk1 LT was quite common, there's only made approx 1250 of the 4x4 variant. They come with a dogleg gearbox, crawl gear, 1:2.63 reduction and front, center and rear locks from factory. Both are camper converted.

The orange one used to serve the swedish forrestry department and the white one used to be austrian telecoms as transmission wagon in the alps.

I also have this 1975 build Volvo TGB111AMT (otherwise called C303 in the civilan version)

It's ex swedish military, but has been converted for civilian use with full body roll cage, winch front and back, compressor with oiled and non oiled air lines. It comes from factory with front, center and rear locks and on portal axles. Also this one is camper converted.

With my Hilux Surf back up and running, I'm now looking for a few wee bits.

    - a Snorkel (Safari snorkel already ordered)
    - a winch front bumper
    - some better seats, preferable leather, preferable electric adjustment. Mine are fairly worn out and uncomfy.

    Any pointers are appreciated.

    /M

      Welcome aboard!

You've got a nice collection of vehicles there! I've always fancied a Volvo C303

I've got a set of Nissan 300ZX leather seats with electrics flying about, that I'll have a go at first. But thanks for the offer. Shipping the seats you have would probably exceed what they're worth .. unless I'm passing anyhow.

As for the collection, I've just sold the white high top, but I've also since added a Mitsubishi Delica, a Range Rover P38 (with BMW 6-cyl diesel), a Land Rover Discovery TD5 commercial (which is going to be sold again) and a 1986 Defender 110 pickup with a hard top on the back to the fleet ... That's how much can change in a year :P

My orange LT is off the road ATM, as we're cutting the roof to install a pop top.

Looking for another Hilux as a breaker at the moment, because mine is quite sick engine wise and needs a few other parts, but the body is mint, so it be a shame to scrap it. And I quite like it. I did get the snorkel for it last year. Ended up buying a Safari snorkel from Malaysia on eBay. Still was a lot cheaper with customs than some UK suppliers.

          Hello there.

Really like the VW 4x4s they look great. The type of vehicle which would provide me and the dogs with a bit more space than the Surf when out and about.
          Good luck with that engine.
