  • New from ireland

    Hi all,
I'm Micheal and I'm from Ireland. I bought myself a gen 3 manual surf last year and I'm extremely happy with it.
I have joined up to get some knowledge on these machines and also looking for a few upgrade bits for it too eg rear seats , nudge bar etc.
    Kind regards
    Micheal.

    Welcome.

Was that the blue crewcab out in Oughterard that you got; it's the only manual I've seen, and the guy who had it spent ages looking for one iirc.

Enjoy it. If you want to do a bit of offroading, take a look at www.4xforum.net; they have meets around Ireland, including in Dartfield outside Loughrea. They're also a sound bunch.

Budweiser and Dara are also based in Ireland, as well as a few others.

    David.

            That's an SSR-G, manual, isn't it?

I couldn't believe he was able to clear it as a crewcab; customs refused me because the load bay was less than 2cm too short! The way that one is done is quite interesting, as it still allows the rear seat to drop so that you could load longer items.

The guy who had that had a crashed one, too (I think he was on here, too). I got a few parts out of it a few months ago. He really lives in one of the most spectacular places around; I was there during a storm, and the view was still incredible. I can understand why he needed a good 4WD.

Enjoy it, and hopefully we'll get to see you around in it. Are you based around Galway yourself?

Hey lads. Unfortunately its not the one from oughterard I bought cause when I enquired about that one he had sold it only an hour previous.
I bought mine from a fella in Longford. Its a commercial but im planning on setting it up as a crewcab if I can get around the revenue somehow.

If you have a number for yer man that has the crashed one that would be great as id need a few bits from time to time.

Very hard to find bits for these in ireland.
They never seem to pop up on donedeal.

Some place Oughterard is alright. His directions forgetting there were hilarious " You'll get to point where you think your in the middle of nowhere but just keep driving for another ten miles"

Theres a guy on adverts who got a surf crew-cabed recently i think he got some place in Cavan who does coaches to sign of on it.

I've a manual one as well they are fairly rare i've only come across 5 in total.
Thinking about swapping the box out into my other one but it could be just heart ache.

I've a set of back seats and belts and carpet. If your looking for them?

In terms of 3rd gensfor breaking there is.
Mackins breakers in Kilkenny have one.
There's one in a breakers in Galway thats been well picked.
There's a chassis, drive terrain and engine in a breakers near the red cow in Dublin.
There's a guy on donedeal from limerick who has a few parts and there's one in Monaghan for breaking aswell

@bobjones; it the one in Galway is the one in Carnmore, I've had the gearbox and torque convertor out of it. Someone told me recently that he has gotten another one out there.

If any of you are around Galway give me a shout. I have a '98 commercial in well-scratched bluey/greeny colour.

@mihogal12 Not sure what the going rate is. Ive seats, seatbelts and carpet. Make an offer?
@Fey Yep i think it is only talked to them on the phone. They did have a 98 listed on partfinder but when i rang again they said they only had one.
