3rd gen heater question

I can't find any reference to my current heater problem, first, when I shift the heat control off cold to increase the temp I get a fast clicking noise which is annoying and I can't feel any increase in temperature it sounds like a mechanical noise like a single fan blade catching something in the dash aprox 3 clicks per second quite loud but does it in the fan off position as well. Having noted that the heater control of the 3rd gens are electrical could it be a relay tripping in and out? If so why?

Could be the gear teeth clicking on the actuator.

Hi,
On our Gen 3s, there is a couple of seconds of gentle whirring/clicks when you move the controls but nothing more. It does sound like one of the drive gears in the unit has worn.

If I can find time this week I will try and get the front of the central dash off to get a look at things. Failing that it will be over the week end.
