    hello all
i have just completed a road trip holiday around france in my hilux surf 3.0l
we traveled fully loaded with camping gear and our two dogs
our trip consisted covering 2065 mile. form Bolton lancs to the vendee on to
Aubeterre-sur-Dronne then back up the country to near the belgium border.and finally back to bolton. two week in total and i can gladly report the surf did not miss a beat all the way. and averaged out doing 27.4 mile to the gallon and was a complete pleasure to drive .......

    Sounds a good trip.
We did the classic LeMans 24 hours race a few weeks ago and the Surf went as "back up vehicle" didn't miss a beat either although I know it didn't do anything near 27.4 mpg hammering back late for the ferry!

lemans 24 hour i bet that was a good trip. we where cruising at about 2500 revs mostly a steady 70/80 mile a hour . was really happy with milage acheived for size of engine and being fully loaded up

Same here, in fact we did over 10000 km around Southern Africa in four weeks, and like you guys, not a single issue.
Serviced the car half way through the trip and that's all.

I have uploaded a couple of pictures of the surf in the Karoo desert and at Olifants camp, in Kruger national Park.

        Cheers

              Thanks chaps.

You are right Bud, they are too small ,I copied them from their Flickr format and it didn't really work.

              Will think of a plan.
              Cheers

It's a good trip, it did rain again though but seeing some of those old cars being thrashed around a track at night with some mates and beers is a good feeling.
I was 'supporting' a 3.0 Alfa 75 trackday car and a Lotus Excel, no problems other than the Alfas bonnet nearly coming off at 90mph!, and the lotus kept getting left behind!
We traveled at 90mph (3000_3200ish rpm) for 2 hours to make the ferry I saw a high of 99° on the digital temp gauge up a long steep hill in 26° heat fully loaded!
I guess the new head is working ok then.
