I thought I would change these bushes as the rattling was getting quite irritating with the windows down this summer. With am MOT due and a split front drive shaft gaiter it was a good time to do them. I read up on here and numerous links as to how to tackle the job and got stuck in. An error I made was upon reassembly of the drive shaft back into the hub. The outer circlip groove was not protruding enough to fit the washer and clip. I suspected I had not fitted the bronze bushes properly which was preventing the shaft to reach its correct position. I removed the shaft and tried squeezing them together with a stud and washers to no avail. So I took the hub off again and inspected it with the shaft off the car. It was too much grease!!
So it went back on and lined up this time. So Thanks for all the info, I have a non rattling surf now.
