auto or manual to buy

hello all this is my first go in your forum im looking soon to buy a 3l surf as my old disco is getting tired. I like the appeal of the surf seems to be all things, my question to you guys in the know is auto or manual to buy. ide like manual for usual reasons like mpg and being in control of the gears but there seems to be way more autos for sale than manuals, if anyone has time could you run through the pros and cons on autos many thanks.

Mpg not an issue with any surf

Auto box is best option.

Try the "search" ref info manual/auto.

Auto boxes are bullet proof, no known issues and you'll never need to change a clutch.
I've used the auto box off road and it's perfect in the mud, never in the wrong gear.

As above...I drive in deep sand sometimes and the auto selector does the hard work for you.
