Trouble moving into gears.

Hi All, now and again, but getting more frequent, I have trouble shifting into gears. Foot on brake, press button down on shift lever but its solid. What I have to do in this case is press the red button to enable the lever to move.

Any ideas anyone... Thanks.

Check that both of your brake lights are working.
A blown bulb affects the shiftlock circuit for some reason.

Hi Vince, thanks for that, I will check. I also thought about what the button pushes down onto as well, maybe that could be worn as it has been intermitent.

You should feel the shiftlock solenoid clicking through the gear lever when pressing the brake pedal. If not, check the brakelight switch near where the brake pedal pivots is OK and not loose or something.

Sorry for late reply Vince, I have tightend the switch, which was quite loose and all has been OK since. Thank you. BTW I am still getting laser cut parts, Stainless and Mild Steel at reasonable prices if you need any...
