On the TO DO list is
    Paint rusty chassis.

Everything is pretty solid paint wise up to about the fuel tank and from there back it gets a bit scabby.
The worst bit being the cross member aft of the rear axle.
Best practice is to get rid of the rust back to grey metal.

Have any of you employed a mobile blaster service?

    Or
    would this be ok?

any suggestions for a good chassis black paint that you could recommend?

You might want to consider treating it rather than grinding it....have you considered vinegar?

      I use this....
      http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1212091079...84.m1439.l2648

      Sprayed on with this.........
      http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mini-Spray...item1c3d136994

      After using these type attachments.....
      http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GRINDER-TW...item1c18b0b68b

The paint is like Hammerite, apply with brush or spray and no need for primer. Just brush off the loose rust/crud and spray on.
They say in the ad not to use standard thinners and only use theirs I use this thinners......
      http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TETROSYL-5...item3385969df8
and it works just fine. I mix it 60:40 (paint/thinners), a jam jar full at a time.

I've got some photos of the finish on Lexurf XI but I can't get them off the camera at the moment.

Erm as much as I like to work smarter not harder, I think this time I will keep the vinegar fro my chips, might have a experiment or two in the garage mind.

the silverline grinder is the one i bought last week, also available at toolstation.com
bought mine from the retail outlet shop in Bath, £24.64. sanding is good and cutting discs worked fine on the droplinks. also came with spare motor bushes, so all in all ok for home use. toolstation have branches everwhere, bound to be one near you. im also using their rust proofing treatment, cheap and seems to be ok for using prior to undersealing. their valeting products are pretty good as well, and again cheap.

                  Ordered mine from eBay land.
Just found out that the Royal Mail first class I paid for actually means fcukin Hermes so its in the back of some dodgy geezers motor.
When/if it arrives is anyone's guess.

                        No two, sprayed on.
One light coat followed by a heavier coat 20 mins later.

I give the bumper and sliders at least four coats.
