  • Potential Cracked Head!

I have recently moved house from Scotland to the South Coast. During the journey down I noticed a steaming coming from the front of the engine. On inspection the radiator header tank had boiled dry and was flashing off steam through the header tank.

As I was half way through my journey I had no choice but to carry on with a newly topped up radiator. The temperature of the engine remained steady throughout the rest of the journey. However I noticed a whitish smoke coming from the exhaust. Fearing the worst and after several prompts by Family members I jumped onto the forums to try and diagnose the fault.

As soon as possible I took the Surf to a local garage, they did a "block test" and it failed. The Garage mechanic then told me he didn't want to help any more as he "doesn't do imports" as the parts are difficult to get.

I just walked away from that Garage and now I face the problem of being in a new area with no knowledge of local services. So I pose the question, Do any of you fine gentlemen know of a local garage that would help in the Fareham area?

    Regards,

    D

Thanks Charvell, I have contacted Tony and he's going to look at the Surf on Friday.

I just hope it's only the gasket! Save a bit of money that way!
