largest tyre size that will fit on an unmodifired Gen 2?

Currently on 31/10.50/15's...looking for the cheapest way to replace them and it seems 265/75/16's (which my fag packet maths says are equal to 31.9/10.6/16) would save a tenner...and that matters to me.
