  • Summer (??) holidays

Hi all - missed you all while I was away - by the third day I had withdrawal symptoms!
Where has everyone else been this year and should we share "experiences". We've just been to Hanioti, Halkidiki which we really enjoyed BUT we did find that due to the Euro, everything was so much more expensive - I think we'll be going back to Turkey next year!!

Nice to be back and have something other than Liptons Yellow Label!!

Well I've made a conscious descision... when we go on holiday, the surf is coming with us!
        Can't lave her at home.

So her contribution to the holiday is towing the caravan.

Well, I've just had a week up in Edinburgh to see my folks which was, as always, disastrous! Same old rows that've been going on for as long as I can remember. Not a great stay, but a great journey up there in the Surf!

What a motorway muncher! I've driven that M6 route in so many different vehicles over the last 14 years (gulp) since I passed my test, but the journey in the Surf was by far the most effortless and most comfortable I've ever had. I've never done that journey and got out of the car with anything other than cramped up legs until now...I'm seriously impressed.

Sat at between 120 and 145kph almost all the way, with just one fuel stop and never missed a beat. I have to say I was shi**ing it a bit due to the evident 2.4 head probs, but (touch wood etc) all seems to be well. No water or oil required. Just shi* loads of diesel!

Finally tightened up my wind deflectors when I got up there too so the return leg was blissfully quiet, apart from the Limp Bizkit CD's (sorry) and made me feel like I was truly in the luxury vehicle I felt I was in.

Fantastic. A stop in Cumbria on the way up to see my best mates allowed me to have play in her fathers farm fields and get the 4WD going while my mate chased me round on a quad bike... pics soon once I figure out how to get 'em off my phone!

So all in all, after all that and last months surf trip to Cornwall in the Surf I'm more than a little impressed with the abilities of this fine machine! Still not tested the springs in the back though ;o) !!

Hi Lou. Sounds like you had a great time. Welcome back.
I went on holiday on my own, for the first time, this year. Had a great week on the Lincs coast, between Skegness and Mablethorp, at a little place called Anderby Creek. Played ham radio, kites, lifting wire ham radio aerials with kites and getting lifted and dumped too roughly by a kite (cracked 3 ribs). Also did lot of walking and beer drinking and put on a whole stone! All the things that would have given my other half a long face.
I didn't have the Surf then, so I got a bit stuck on the beach with my old company car ( Vauxhall Astra Estate ) despite the traction control! Looking forward to doing something similar next year.
              It's only a hobby!

                summer hols

Spent the kids 6 weeks in Tenerife at dad's place, well parents are useful for some things at least. Mind you he did have me working in the bar. Off to Anglesey to put caravan to bed for winter then get ready for Chritsmas.

Got to think what i can buy her for Christmas (surf that is) suppose ought to buy the other half something as well !!

Tee hee hee I can't post any photo's cause my camera packed up - the film is jammed inside it! but needless to say Greenpeace were on standby!
I liked Hanioti very much but not the beach - a bit too stony for me but then I was brought up in morecambe which has lovely sand and the added bonus that you save on the leccy bill later on (when you glow in the dark)
And I'm not that brown either - we bumped into Koi on Saturday morning at Kelly's Kitchen roundabout on the a5 - he can vouch for that!! And the greenpeace stuff!! but it was nice to put a face to the name.Sorry Koi but I'm not a morning person, I'm not really a space cadet it was just the shock of realising that there are 2 7 o'clocks in a day!
Keep the holiday recommendations coming, especially places where dogs are welcomed!
                    Cheers guys

Puzzled by the identity of the city in your photo JimL, I'm certain I've been there but can't name it. It looks like the bridge over the river in San Se****ian, but I don't remember it being too clean. Only other thought is Stockholm.

No, walking round dublin with a camera in your hand is not advised and as for a mobile phone, protect your life and dont use it
