Petrol Surf?

Did Toyota ever make a 2Li Petrol Surf? I've seen one advertised, but i wasn't sure wether its been modified.

I think that would have to be a 1st gen as they did have (I think) the 20r engine as an option. (not sure if it was fuel injected or Carburettor).

The 22R engine is a fuel injected 2.2L (I think) available also in 1st gen 4runners.

Both these engines are pretty good engines, you can fit a 22R head on a 20R engine and get a fuel injected motor as the block is fundamentally the same. I think again that they were the same engine design as fitted to the early Celicas.

Not sure about 2L petrol engine, but mines a 2.7L petrol, 2001 model.

As far as I know the only petrol motors in a 1st Gen was 2.4lt 22R (carbed) and 22R-T (injected). 2nd gen also went V6 3.0lt

My 81' pickup had a 2lt motor this was labeled 18R, barely pulled the pickup along, would royally suck in a heavier 4Runner. UK pick ups also had 2.2lt 20R motors.

I thought I was wrong with the 22R being 2.2L. Think some 1st gens had 18Rs in them as I've heard talk of them on Yotatech. Think you can put the 20R/22R head on that one as well and make it fuel injected.

Andy, the Yanks also got a factory 2.4 Turbo (22RTE) option in the Pickups, that would have been a great motor in the 1st gen surfs! The US get all the fun engines!
