If that hacksaw has a blade suitable for aluminium.....

I may have one or two cups of tea while I ponder my next course of action.

If it all works out it I can say it was planned that way.

If it all goes horribly wrong then I'll say no more on the subject.

At least I managed to get the front bumper bolted back in place today.

Looks very restrictive (thin) as well as being an excellent heatsoak.

The relative thinness was what I was after.
                  It is 28mm thin.
I actually thought it was considerably smaller than what it actually is, I was expecting something around 300 by 150 !!!
It was going to live in the space next to the airbox, away from the heat with a small amount of ducting to channel the air to the underside then exhausting out through the bonnet.

I am tempted to peel back the ears of the end cap and see how the end plate attaches to the airways.......
                  Back to the drawing board.
Hey if it was easy everyone would be doing it.

                  Any suggestions?

The 3.0 runs a similar thickness air con rad across the front of the radiator - it has a thinner fan cowling to compensate. Maybe your intercooler would fit in the same space ? (you would need to relocate your trans cooler though)

That is not a bad idea.
Before I bolt my grille back on I could have a measure up .
                      So my options now are,
Stick in front of the rad.
See if I can trim it down to a smaller size, but first I need to see how the air passages are fixed to the end plates.
                      Stick it on eBay.

An intercooler needs to be at least 2" thick to work efficiently.
I had a RX7 'cooler when I was running a 2.4, it was approximately 1/3 the size or the one in your photo and work very well.

if only it was half the size and twice as thick.

                          Thanks for the input Vince.

Anybody wanna buy a VXR intercooler and pipework

Does the original VXR one have plastic end tanks? Looks like it in the pics.
Would be more beneficial to get all alloy one from allisport etc 2" core as vince suggests, and as big as you can fit in space in front of rad. More work maybe to fit but worth it.
