  • Suggestion to Management

We currently have over 2500 forum members, most of whom live & work in the UK & Ireland.

Nigel & Andy have a SHOP which following the lastest link hopefully will be used more often by members.

My suggestion idea has really been highlighted by the "Lets raise funds" to help the forum running costs, which i would say is a great idea, but it might be easier if we had a section listing ( or whatever ) what members could offer, be it there company goods, knowledge or individual expertise etc etc.

If they wanted to charge or not charge, that would be up to them.

With 2500 members we must have a vast amount of knowledge, which may just may be of benefit to someone else.
    To give an example :
I have spent 38 years in the submersible pumping industry, so i know a little about pumps, water - sewage ( Sewerat ), pipework, control panels & electricity etc etc. Now i have my own small ( v/small ) company doing contract work with the likes of Scottish Water.
Say a member in Devon may have a problem, he or she could look up the list, then call & ask me about it, & i may or may not be able to help ( same as we do on Surf's).
Others may offer a printing service or design work etc etc.

So i'd like to open a debate to see if members are interested in having a section listing their "Company or Individual expertise or specialist knowledge " which they are willing to offer either on a cost or free basis.

    It's up to you guys.

Then hopefully if there is a good reponse Nigel & Andy may take it up.

if you list everyones job/knowledge/company somewhere then perhaps people will look here first for ideas/help/freebies
I reckon most will give advice/discount etc etc...

      Sounds good mate.

            Interesting idea!

For my sins I also know all about submersible pumps especially where processing sh!t is involved having worked in the industry for a while.

Unfortunately it takes up space on the server and has bugger all to do with Surfs so wouldn't be very fair on admin's to carry the cost for storing it. A charge would be required me thinks.

            Rich.

Printer by trade, but the company I work for has BIG machinery and doesn't entertain letterheads, busines cards etc...., as most of the prontaprint, quickprint companies have taken this over, so not much I can help in the way of printing, but have a big interest in PC's etc, make them, rebuild them, fix 'em etc...and supply some software , and can get parts reasonably cheap.....so advice is there for anyone if I can help in anyway.

not much I know, but u never know when someone might need help wiv 'em.

Funny ain't it, you probably find it like a busmans holiday m8, and so would I if people asked me to print things over the weekend, but messing about with pc's I enjoy it, probably cos its something different from the usual mundane job, fixed two pc's this week for m8's and well pleased when they are amazed its working so well..................but yeah would like to make a few quid out of it
