  • Rancho shocks, any good?

    Evening all,

I'm on the verge of buying a 2" suspension lift kit from Roughtrax - i'm going for the Rancho one, but have read that some people don't rate the Rancho shocks & say they are too hard.

    Any input?

    If not Rancho, which ones?

    Cheers

    James

I've got this kit on mine, fitted it just after Christmas and I must say its a great bit of kit, it is definatly a firmer ride but I prefer that!

The paint on them is absolutely shyte ! I put some on, and they went rusty within a couple of months, I've since removed them and re painted them. If you buy some, give them a couple of extra coats before you fit them.

I have some ready to go on. So that's good to know, MWS

Maybe a nice push to paint them the colour I want anyways

I've had Rancho shocks in the past, the ride was stiff and like Mick said, they went rusty real quick.
There are people who like Rancho stuff, but they probably like gay marriage and shit like that.

New Bilstein shocks & Roughtrax springs all round fitted Friday.

Truck rides about 1.5" higher from losing the sag. As I got in it to drive it away from the garage, I was considering an Oxygen mask.

Ride is much better over the multiple speed humps on the commute to work. Less rattles from the truck too as it previously looked for somewhere else to dissipate the impact.

Lads also determined the poor handbrake performance was a result of a rear drum being seized, so that was stripped down, cleaned and reassembled for an hour's labour. Now the truck doesn't roll back an extra 6" when you apply the handbrake.

            I have a 3rd gen so I am obviously voting pro-gay marriage.

Do Bilstein make ones 2" longer, to use for suspension lifts?

Anyone got a source of the TJM ones?

If you look around the old threads I remember seeing some links to UK distributors of OME and TJM stuff. Beware though, coz four TJM or OME dampers could cost you more than you paid for the truck itself...

                        Google "OME shocks UK"

                        http://lmgtfy.com/?q=ome+shocks+uk

                        Devon 4x4.

You'd want the 90 series / Prado units I would say.
