i decided to play a bit with the Lexus seats while i get off me this cold (better stay in the warmth)

finally i had taken the airbags off, now with the new space i got 2 ideas, both using the cable of the airbag

1 put a speaker

2 make some kind of pocket to hold a phone, or other device, and be able to charge it at the same time with a 12v supply


using this metal casing, that is the one that used to hold the airbag

do you have any suggestion?
the reason is when you do test here if they see any sing of airbags on the vehicle, they look for the light on the dash to check if the airbag system works properly. and if there is none they will fail it.

just got 2 of these, to charge whatever fits
if i got for that,
and if it doesnt work i could try instead some small speakers

If there's a Hickeys near you, you should be able to get material to match the seat to cover the box for a couple of euros. I've gotten leatherette in there in the past for a similar job.

If it's brown (I can't see the colour properly in the picture) give me a shout and I can send some down to you; I have some left over from a job I did last week in the house.

As for the airbag light, it has to light up when you turn on the ignition, but then has to go out again after a couple of seconds. However, if there are no airbags, they can hardly expect that to work (although you never know with the RSA/NCT).

There's a bit here from the RSA website about modifications, but it doesn't mention removal of airbags.

Thanks, too late! I removed them, all i got now is the metal casing and the airbag cover, that i will use some black material after fitting the usb charger, doe it have to be a small phone, due mine is too big (the kid call it the brik! ) test down here are quite particular so i preffer to be on the safe side, and, on the way do something different.
