  • Drivers door auto lock & rear window motor

Hi all, long time no speak hope all is well.

Does anyone know how the door mechanism works with regards to electronic lock / unlocking? For some reason my drivers door will unlock but not lock (electronically). Is there a solenoid in the door? For now I'm getting her to use the key.
I've had an alarm system fitted in around 2010 which I think has been wired in to the factory electrics, as when the engine starts, the doors lock. Well they all do except the drivers door. Any tips appreciated.

I also need a replacement rear window motor I think. The one I modified back in 2007 looks like it's finally given up. I would take it apart and weld it again but I'm not back until June. If anyone has a good motor they have for sale please let me know? Can paypal etc

    Cheers,
    Tony
    Oh Nana, what's my name?

The doors locked on my Surf as standard. Anti hijack system on a lot of Japanese spec motors apparently.

        Tony,

Sounds like my alarm system (Clifford concept). It can be programed to both lock and unlock the doors when engine is started and shut down, or to just lock or unlock. You are quite correct in thinking that the alarm is patched into the factory standard central locking, and yes the door has a solenoid.
My first guess would be the door to body wiring loom (Broken wire), Very common, as I'm sure you know!!

Quite happy to be corrected, but seem to recall something in the handbook. However, I'm often wrong!
