  • Lift time - Massive thanks to AndyVerran

I just wanted to give out a massive shout of thanks to Andy for giving up his sunny Sunday afternoon to help me with my old truck.

We thought it would be a nice easy afternoon, with a quick spring swap and maybe even some time to get some bits done on his truck....

Well... it wasn't as easy as anticipated (it never is i suppose) but the springs were a bit harder to get in than we thought they would be.. but with a fair bit of jiggery pockery.. 4 spring compressors and a fair bit of elbow grease we managed to get them seated nicely and everything back in place.. got the front jacked up a bit using the torsion bar and hey presto.. car is now siting much higher

I will be getting bigger tyres on there and some wheel spacers too, but for now I'm just going to use the ones that you see in the pics since there is loads of tread on them.

Andy.. he is a tall bugger so the car looks tiny....

Me.. I am a short bugger so the car looks massive...

There is lots more to come, but with my wedding in less than 8 weeks.. she is getting mighty frustrated at me spending more money on car type toys...

Anyway, thanks again Andy, I t was a pleasure meeting you, Kirsty and your cats.. and can I say what an amazing home you guys have.

Well done you guys, the springs are always a bugger to do (for me, at least, and I only fitted standard sized ones). The surf looks cool, few goodies already on it, enjoy!

Like i said.... he is a tall bugger!

And I the bumper was one of the main reasons i bought the car...

I am toying with the idea if painting her black as I am not a massive fan of the 2-tone vibe going on.... And seeing Andy's Surf which is a beaut which is a deep blue top to bottom I think they look great all one colour.

Well if you want to lose a bit more Andy,
I'm gonna lift the body when the weather warms up and four hands are better than two apparently!!!

Ps, fitting that window is a bugger ain't it, all done though and works a treat.
                      Mike

Pps if you need a hand with anything on yours give us a shout mate

Yeah the windows looked fiddly when I took them apart....though I sold 4 door skins to a chap in the west country and he had all 4 rebuilt and on the car in a day, must have had a magic wand.

I'm game for helping with your lift, I start a part time job next week doing variable days, so hit me with as much notice as you can fella.

Do you have any experience with diff pinion seals or making fiberglass moulds?
I'm wanting to make glass replacements for the chrome bumbers...summer project I think...

Never done either buddy, but will gladly help out.

Yeah I'm thinking summer for the lift as might need the extra daylight!!!

Maybe you should get a painted bumper and colour code it to your bodywork!!

I thought about that, but plastic gen 2 bumpers are thin on the ground...and i can buy all the kit to make both front and the 3 rear parts in fiberglass for the same money as a front bumper in plastic....and it might be fun

Never thought I would hear using Fibreglass and fun in the same sentence !!

I used to work with it years ago on Metrocabs and I would be itching all ###### day, laying it up was fine but trimming and sanding..oh my days..

Willing to help if needed though mate.
