  • Oh no, that sounds expensive!

Whilst driving out of B&Q carpark earlier I had the Surf on full right hand lock and the N/S wheel mounted a small kerb, (only about 4" high). As it mounted the kerb a very expensive and painfull sounding metal grinding noise came from the N/S wheel that could be felt through the pedals!! Anyone got any ideas what this is? Everything looks normal!!

Is the laquer still on your alloys??
Serious face on now. I,m not sure if they still do it but Quickfit used to do a free safety check. Being a cheeky begger, after any such incident, I would pop in and get the free check done. I would take their advice and say see ya later, then go to my brothers garage and do it myself.
Yes, I do squeek when I walk!!!!!
    It's only a hobby!

Pretty certainly it was the steering stop making the noise. Built in feature on a Surf that can be cured with a blob of grease. Check out http://www.yotasurf.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=651

Nah - there wouldn't be a metallic noise from that - just a plasticky squish

When you do grease the bump stops, note that they are fore and aft of the front wheels, and in my case the creaking continued even after I greased the stops I could see...
