I think John and his Multipla wins the money pit prize.(no actual prize expressed or implied or offered).
I think the next one will have to be a Jap motor.
Before making the switch to the Surf the Mrs had a Vtec Accord which she used to redline daily.
In the six years of ownership it got tyres and filters and belts and petrol, lots and lots of petrol and about 95k+ miles later it was sold and everything on it still worked.
My dad many many years ago bought a Datsun Cherry brand new.Fourteen years later it failed an MOT on washer fluid.Yes the bottle was empty.
That had the same type of service history tyres filters and belts.

Worst pit i had has to be a 1968 Buick Riveria, poured several K into it (admittedly much of that was re-chromeing) but still, cost me £400 spent upwards of 3K and travelled about 5 miles in the fecker, on it's last trip up the road it blew piston rings in two cylinders and the rad split covering the road with red tranny oil
Surf!, apart from bling bits and useual service parts and being a guzzler next to nowt, gone through 9 mot's on the trot,
Too young to die and too old to give a toss

        .
Maybe not...The cost of parts for a Fiat are laughable, that list of parts that has been replaced on mine (apart from the tyres) probably in total, cost less than a full dealer service on a BMW.

            Good point
So far, since September, it has cost me about £260 in parts and that is not including two tyres.
That total, will, no doubt increase come Saturday when I get the chance to investigate the reason the thermostat was removed

2001 Alfa Romeo 166 3.0L V6 - Cracked impeller on the water pump, blown seals on the brake master cylinder causing loss of all braking in rush hour traffic, then 4 of the five bolts on one of the front wheels shear off, the wheel nearly came off and would have done if I hadn't stopped to let a bus pull out - all this in less than a year.
                It went on ebay

I will get the ball rolling with my own worst nightmare.
Vauxhall Astra 1.7dti purchased September 2013 for £700.
Full dealer service with the last service being carried out by a local garage.
                  So far....
Oil pump and oil pump seal
                  Crank seal
                  Coolant sensor see below
                  Two new rear tyres
                  Central locking doesn't
New thermostat to replace the missing one...
The lack of thermostat is now the main concern, it has obviously been removed to hide some other horror.
                  New battery
                  New alternator

The Astra, now affectionately renamed Dis-Astra.
I had a 1.6 8v Astra Estate. Bought it for 1200 and had it for 18 months, in that time...

                  Replaced the cam belt
                  Full Exhaust
                  O2 sensor
                  Head gasket
                  Water pump
                  Alternator
                  Battery
                  ECU
                  4 tyres
                  Brake discs and pads
Power steering rack and pump unit

I gave it away after that.

So, for total reliability, we all need to buy the car that was built at approximately 2:15 on a Wednesday afternoon in June or July (no bank holidays, not a weekend, and no hangover as it's midweek), lol
