Looks gimmicky to me. Something to be forever switching and messing with.
If the right exhaust is fitted, best of both is achieved, not too loud, but not too restricted either. Besides, i want to hear a V8 rumble all the time. And if you want quiet=don't rev as much.

Andy I was gonna post the same... it's not getting the noise out of a lexurf, it's keepimg it in!
I 'get' switching exhausts but problems with them sticking etc aren't un heard of. even on top end installs....plus screaming a 1uzfe doesn't give the same sort of sound as other v8's...
Getting a decent low rpm rumble from your lexurf is the way forward using the right boxes..
